30/05/14 Working Together - Have-a-Go at Brimfield

Archers of Teme put on a special 'Have-a-Go' archery event for young people at Brimfield Sports Club on 27th May. Some 20 youths from the 'Working Together' charity took part, along with their support workers, and enjoyed a two hour session guided by Jenny Lillyman, Carmen Jennings, Kim Lucas and other club members.

The evening session was rounded off by several ends of balloon popping. Club Chairman Mark North presented all the participants with an AoT medal as a memento of their visit.

The 'Working Together' local co-ordinator, Carole Price, expressed sincere thanks on behalf of the youths, their carers and accompanying parents for a very rewarding evening.

Photos of the event are in the Gallery or can be seen here.

19/01/14 Bowbrook Archers Rove Event 2014
On Sunday 19th January, Bowbrook Archers hosted their annual rove event, attended by a mix of longbow and other traditional archers. Toasting first to the Longbow (and other bows) the company embarked upon a double round of traditional roving marks in the grounds of PGL Boreatton Park.

The weather was clear, and the sun shone for almost the entire event! With a mix of long (240yds) and short (50yds over tall trees) shots the company proceeded from shot to shot, with distances adjusted for Ladies and Juniors according to their bow strengths. The final challenge of the day was a flight shot, with archers attempting simply to cast their arrows as far as possible; the longbows achieving approximately 230yds at the greatest distance!

Jim Daborn represented the Archers of Teme and finished up carrying away the Gents first prize against some strong competition.

The last indoor shooting event of the 2012/13 winter season was recently held at Moor Park School, Ludlow with 18 archers taking part in a Portsmouth round consisting of 5 dozen arrows shot over 20 yards. The final winners and scores were:

Gents Gold medal – Arty Nash – 1501
Gents Silver medal – John Bridger – 1495
Gents Bronze medal – Karl Chandler - 1483

16/11/12 Longbows over Shropshire Countryside

Archers of Teme hosted its very successful 2nd annual Roving Marks competition, on behalf of the Shropshire Fraternity of Longbows, in the grounds of Kinlet Hall earlier this month. Thirty three archers from clubs across the county took part in an all day event shooting at long and short distances over open rolling countryside.

The event culminated in a fire-arrow challenge to light a ceremonial bonfire topped by an effigy of Guido Fawkes. Such was the accuracy of the longbow shooting that it was soon ablaze and the effigy consumed.

Mark North, Arty Nash, Jim Daborn and Paul Matthews came 4th, 5th, 7th and 12th respectively in the final scorings.

01/10/12 Sofi wins Shropshire County Junior Archery Championship

In addition to winning the championship, Sofi took home another gold medal and cup for her growing trophy cabinet.

09/08/12 Tenbury Show 'Have-a-Go'

The Olympic archery events in London clearly inspired many visitors at the recent Tenbury Countryside Show where more than 300 people took part in ‘Have-a-Go’ archery hosted by the Archers of Teme.

The queue to join the shooting line grew quickly and their motivation to emulate the world class archers seen at Lord’s cricket ground in London last week was obvious to all.

Participants ranged from young children through to senior citizens who all thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to shoot a modern recurve bow with many budding archers returning for a second and even a third session.
