Shropshire County Archery Clout Shoot – 30/10/11
Five club members of the Tenbury Wells based Archers of Teme took part in the county Clout shoot at Longford Hall, Newport on Sunday 30th October competing against nearly 60 other archers for medals in a variety of classifications.
Unlike traditional target archery, in which archers shoot at a round straw ‘boss’, a clout shoot involves shooting arrows approximately 45 degrees into the air, aiming at a much larger target on the ground, at distances of up to 180 yards.
Although the weather was fine and sunny, there was a brisk SW breeze blowing which tested the skill and experience of all present. The Archers of Teme members acquitted themselves extremely well by scoring 2 gold and 2 silver medals in their respective classifications. Final results for the club were :-
